At a watch party hosted by the Adler Planetarium in the South Loop, dozens of people cheered for the launch of the Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the moon in over 50 years, reported by CBS News.
The first mission to the Moon took place in 1969, and the Artemis II launch proved successful.
At the event, viewers were excited at the prospect of being part of such a historic launch.
Another watch party took place in Oak Park and elicited the same excitement as the one at Adler, reported by CBS News.
Viewers of a live stream will be able to watch the entire 10-day mission. Once the crew gets there, they will spend four days on the Moon taking photos and gathering data.
