In the middle of what can be a busy time for both students and faculty due to finals, the Black Wolves, Columbia College Chicago’s student basketball team, went up against members of the college’s faculty for a friendly game on April 29 in the East-West University gym.

It’s not uncommon for the Columbia Black Wolves to be running three-on-three matchups during the week at the other university’s gym. This week, however, brought a different kind of energy with a full-court showdown between students and staff.

Senior film and television major Robert Jones, member of the Black Wolves, called the shots during the game, with high expectations for a victory against the faculty members.

Some faculty members, on the other hand, had different expectations.

“You know, students did some work on us at the volleyball game, but I think we’re going to flip the script here and put some work back to them in the game today,” said James Tsitiridis, assistant director of Admissions.

Tsitiridis said that the event was equal parts about winning and also building community.

“It’s fun to build that relationship with both the student and staff,” he said. “Have a fun, friendly competition, and get some exercise too while we’re at it.”
