Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton wins Democratic primary

Voters across Illinois showed up in large numbers on March 17 for an important primary election, showing how much people care about the state’s future. 

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton won the Illinois Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, beating several other candidates.

She will now face Illinois Republican nominee Don Tracy in November to replace longtime Sen. Dick Durbin, who is retiring after many years in office. 

These results show that new leaders are starting to take over as older officials step down, giving fresh voices a chance in government. 

In Chicago, the election also highlights how much the city impacts decisions across the state, especially on issues like cost of living, jobs and policies that affect everyday people.
