Students are relying on caffeine to get them through finals

Students are hard at work on their last projects of the semester, and as some seniors are getting ready to graduate, some of them are using the power of caffeine to make it through.
You can find colorful, heart-pumping cans in nearly every single vending machine, especially on campus, and they’re not exactly cheap either.
Many of the popular brands are above $3, and Red Bull in particular is selling their smallest can for $3.50, and their biggest for $5
Despite the price, for some students, every sip is worth it.
“I used to drink like one every other day, usually at the start or during breaks or whatever. And it's kind of gotten to the point where if I'm home all day, I can drink like three,” said Maxwell Bushey, a junior creative writing major.
Brands like Alani contain 2 cups of coffee worth of caffeine per serving, with the brand currently being sued after the passing of a minor last year.
These drinks contain a mixture of caffeine and vitamin B12. It's the perfect recipe to
get students over the finish line, but just as important as energy is to being productive, so is sleep.
The FDA recommends no more than 400mg a day for anyone over the age of 18. For anyone
under 18, that dose goes down to 100mg a day.
